The Australian Karting Association (AKA) has very specific fuels in relation to which fuels can be used. But these rules are still subject to interpretation and other Australian Fuel Standards Act. Taken from the AKA 2010 Manual Approved Fuels: a) For General Use – PULP produced by major refineries, Elf BFK 07 b) Control Fuels Note: Elf CIK102 is specifically formulated for CIK performance engines and may be approved for general karting categories and/or events by the AKA. c) List of approved fuels. 1. For General use PULP produced by major refineries and including ELF BFK 07 2. ELF CIK 102 OR ELF Euro 102 – is specifically formulated for CIK performance engines nd may be approved for general karting categories and/or events by the AKA. Racing Fuels Australia has several fuels that are used by Western Australian Racers. These are the following - VPC10 - 104 RON Unleaded Fuel
- VP100E - 107 RON 2.5% Oxygenated Unleaded Fuel
- VPROO100 - 100 Ron Oxygenated Unleaded Fuel
The above three fuels all comply with the AKA rules, by means that they all comply with the Australian Fuel Standard Act. These three fuels are all approved as Australian Pump Fuels without any exemptions. All are legally allowed to be used in any vehicle on the road. The VP C10 is especially compatible, being essentially, an upgraded version of the elf fuel BFK 07. The essential difference between the two fuels is the BFK 07 is only a 98 RON fuel, whilst the C10 is a 104 RON. The C10 has been tested numerous times at our premises and at racing events, and has passed without any issues or complaints. The VP100E fuel unfortunately, like any oxygenated fuel does not pass the standard digitron test applied by the AKA Testing process. With this in mind, VP has instead focused on the alternative fuel, recently introduced into Australia, being the VPROO100 fuel. The VPROO100 fuel being only 100 RON, with oxygenation, and being within the Australian Fuel Standards Act, complies within the full rules that the AKA requires. Once this is fully legitimised, and the appropiate digitron settings provided, this will be updated for all customers.
